Summer is finally here. The temperature is rising day by day. Not only in the Punjab region, but in Sindh, the temperature is soaring up to 50 degrees centigrade. If you do not take care of yourself in this weather, you may end up getting heatstroke, a life-threatening condition. Taking care of yourself and your loved ones is necessary in this hot weather. If you do not do that, it can lead to various complications.
Still some people fail to realize the dangers of hot weather and how it can impact their health. With the stark changes in the temperature, it is pertinent that you need to make changes in your routine, outfit, and diet too. If you do not do that, it may become hard for you to keep cool.
Mild summers are enjoyable when the temperature is around 25 degrees centigrade. But when it spikes too high, you need to be extra cautious. Here we will tell you the mistakes that most people make in summer, so you can avoid them.

Many people do not pay heed to the fact that being under sunlight can be injurious to your health. When you remain under the sunlight, your body temperature may rise more than normal, resulting in heatstroke.
If you have to go out, make sure to avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Moreover, if you have to go outside, try going in the evening or early in the morning. In the afternoon, the sunlight is hard to bear. Therefore avoid going out at the times when it is too hot.
Do not go out in the sunlight without a cap or umbrella. Make sure to cover yourself with a light-colored cloth, cap, or umbrella to avoid direct exposure to sunlight.
Some people do not realize the very fact that in summers, everyone sweats, and you lose fluid and electrolytes through it. Therefore to combat it, you need to drink plenty of water. If you lose water and electrolytes, you may get dehydrated which can become life-threatening.
Some people drink a little water all day. It is such bad practice for your health. To remain healthy and prevent dehydration, you should drink at least ten to twelve glasses of water a day. And in summer you can drink even more. It is the estimate for plain water. You can add other beverages along with it.
In summers, make sure you drink loads and loads of water. When you do not drink enough water, you may have a complaint of confusion, headache, or dizziness. If you have any of these symptoms, drink water or oral rehydration solution. However, if you have any health condition such as diabetes or hypertension, do not drink oral rehydration solution without the advice of your healthcare provider.
You may consume caffeine through tea, coffee, cola drinks, or other caffeinated beverages. But you must keep in mind that caffeine is a diuretic. A diuretic pulls out water from your body. Therefore it can leave you dehydrated. In summers, your body already loses water through profuse sweating. And when you drink many cups of coffee or tea, you end up losing water from your body. Therefore to prevent dehydration, you should not consume too much caffeine.
Limit your daily caffeine intake, especially in summers when there are fair chances of getting dehydrated. Instead of consuming caffeinated beverages, it is better to drink fresh juices that give you ample energy and do not leave you dehydrated. Moreover, it is advisable not to consume drinks that are loaded with sugar. They can make you feel energized initially but sap it some time.
Many people have a wrong misconception about consuming fish, eggs, and chicken in summer. They think that these foods are hard to digest and produce heat. Therefore they will make you feel hot rather than keep you cold. But this is a total misconception. Instead, these foods are rich in protein. To remain healthy, you need to consume ample amounts of protein.
Protein performs various bodily functions. It not only boosts your immune system, but also helps build nails, hair, and skin. If you do not consume an optimal amount of protein daily, you will end up being malnourished that can lead to various complications. Therefore you do not need to stop consuming fish, eggs, and chicken even in summer. Eat them throughout the year and stay healthy.
Workout is beneficial for your health. But if you do that in summer and without an air conditioner, it can become injurious to your health. When you work out, your body gets warm and warmer, radiating heat. Therefore you must avoid doing it in a hot place. Moreover, in warm weather you may sweat a lot, eventually losing fluid and electrolytes.
Make sure to work out in the summer in an air-conditioned room that is cool and bearable. In a cool room, you will sweat less compared to a non-air-conditioned room.
In summer, you need to take a tremendous care of yourself and your family. You need to be extra cautious in whatever you do. Make sure you wear loose and light-colored clothes. Moreover, drink plenty of water and avoid going out in direct sunlight.
If you do not drink plenty of water and remain under the sun for a long time, you can get a heat stroke. It is a life-threatening condition in which your body temperature rises above normal.
When your body temperature is above normal, the bodily functions stop, and it can become a life-threatening condition. If anyone near you has symptoms of heatstroke or dehydration, take them to the emergency department as soon as possible. Do not take it lightly. Dehydration has serious consequences.
