The Importance of General Surgery in Medical Treatment

General surgery is a surgical speciality wherein it’s specialists are trained to treat a wide range of ailments. Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgery that is done through a fibre optic camera inserted in the abdominal wall to view the contents. Dr. Andrabi discusses that it is a low-risk surgery with better recovery rates. He also discusses that laparoscopy is used to treat problems of the gallbladder, to remove the appendix and also to correct hernial defects.

He further stresses the importance of identifying cancer symptoms, particularly breast cancer and the value of seeking early and prompt consultation. As long as the cancer is diagnosed early with proper treatment recommendations, the longevity of a patient can increase dramatically.
