How You Can Heal Adrenal Fatigue

Adrenal fatigue refers to a variety of nonspecific symptoms, such as fatigue, nervousness, body aches, sleep disturbances, and digestive problems. The term has been popularized by health books and websites, but it is not an accepted medical diagnosis. Your adrenal glands produce hormones and inadequate production of these hormones is referred to as adrenal insufficiency or Addison’s disease.

Adrenal fatigue is a mild form of adrenal insufficiency and is said to be caused by chronic stress. Here are some ways to overcome adrenal fatigue naturally. However, we recommend an endocrinologist for an effective treatment plan.

1-Change Your Diet:

One way to heal adrenal fatigue naturally is to eat more of the foods that offer adrenal support and eliminate foods that are difficult to digest or contain toxins. Basically, any food item that taxes your adrenals should be avoided. First of all, you should limit your intake of caffeine as it can disrupt your sleep cycle and make it difficult for your adrenals to recover.

Similarly, you need to cut back on artificial sweeteners and high-fructose corn syrup. Cereals, candy, and bread are all full of sugar.

You can switch to healthier alternatives such as stevia or honey. Similarly, you might want to reduce your intake of carbs if you have adrenal fatigue to reduce inflammation. The intake of processed foods should also be reduced as they are hard to digest. You should also steer clear of processed meats as a protein overload can send your hormones out of whack.

Lastly, you need to eliminate hydrogenated oils from your diet as they are highly inflammatory. Switch to good fats such as ghee or coconut oil instead.

You should eat healthy, nutrient-dense foods which are digested easily and have healing properties. Some examples include coconut, olives, cruciferous vegetables, avocado, free-range chicken, nuts and seeds, bone broth, and fermented foods. Basically, you need to consume foods that are low in sugar, contain fiber and healthy fats, and are nutrient dense.

2-Reset Your Sleeping Pattern:

You need to reset your circadian rhythm and try to go to bed around 10 pm or 9 pm. Basically, you need to be in harmony with the environment’s photoperiod cycle. It is also a good idea to not use any screens after 7.30 pm as blue light can block the production of melatonin and make it difficult for you to sleep.

You might want to ask your doctor to prescribe melatonin as it can help reset your internal clock. It is also a good idea to wake up before sunrise as that time is very healing and calming and can help reset your hormones. When you align your routine with nature’s clock, you will feel better.

3-Take Supplements And Herbs:

The right supplements and herbs can also greatly help. Adaptogenic herbs such as ashwagandha, holy basil, and rhodiola rosea can lower cortisol levels and reduce strain on your adrenal glands. Other things you can take include licorice root, fish oil, magnesium, selenium, b-complex vitamins, vitamin C, and vitamin D.

If you always feel tired and stressed out, it is recommended that you visit an endocrinologist.
