How to Get Glowing Skin: 8 Wonderful Tips You Can Try at Home

Just before we jump on the bandwagon of achieving glowing skin let’s discuss what glowing actually is.

Every skin has good days and bad days. Good days are those when your skin is clear and free from acne and bumps. There are no dry patches or open pores and you have a subtle glow on. Good days can also be called radiant or glowing skin days.

It is completely fine to have a bad skin day too. But the question that worries most people is how they can reduce the number of bad skin days and maximize the number of good skin days.

Here is what causes bad skin days:

  • Dehydration
  • Depression or anxiety
  • Stress
  • Changes in the weather
  • Overexposure to sun
  • Exposure to contaminated makeup products
  • Abruption in skincare routine
  • Usage of new products on face

How can you achieve glowing skin?

Following are 8 simple yet effective tips to achieve glowing skin:

1. Identify your skin type

Every skin is different on so many levels. So what we want you to do here is observe your skin, make your notes for a week at least and figure out if your skin is dry, oily, or a combination of both. Then carefully select products that are specially designed for the type of your skin.

Start using those products and you will start to see what difference a right product can make. Also, understand that different weathers have different impacts on your skin so what may work for your skin during winters might not work for it during summers. Take the hints that your skin sends out and don’t fear to play around with your skincare routine.

2. Stay hydrated

Drinking enough water is important to achieve clear skin. By staying hydrated what we want you to do is drink at least eight glasses of water in a day or according to your body’s needs.

Water is essential for the adequate functionality of the entire body, especially your skin, hair, and nails. If you are not drinking enough water, fine lines, wrinkles, and pores on your skin will start becoming prominent. Lack of water may also make your skin irritable and scaly.

3. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize

No matter whatever is your skin type is, moisture is the ultimate requirement of your skin. If you skip moisturizing because your skin is oily, find yourself a moisturizer that is specially made for oily skin but never ever skip the moisturization part.

It may feel like just another chore to you but if you plan to skip on moisturizing get ready to face the breakouts and fine line.

4. Maintain a skincare routine

We understand that it may be too tough for you to manage a skincare routine around your busy life. But you must put in some effort if you wish to see your skin rise and shine.

Include cleansing, toning, and moisturizing in your daily routine. Exfoliation should be done twice or thrice a week too. These skincare steps are mandatory and won’t take up more than fifteen minutes of your time daily. And if you wish to take your skincare game to another level include serums, masks, and oils in your skincare routine.

5. Never skip sunscreen

Skipping sunscreen is a crime that most women are guilty of. Sun is not an enemy of your skin but your skin definitely needs a shield to guard itself when it is exposed to direct sunlight. No matter if you are always on the go or you stay at home most days, everyone should have SPF 40 or SPF 60 in their skincare routines.

No matter how many layers of makeup you have on, your skin still needs the protection of sunscreen when it is exposed to the sun. So make sure that you apply a generous layer of SPF right after your moisturizer and then do your makeup. You should also reapply SPF after 4 to 6 hours of the first application if you are out in the sun for long hours.

6. Catch enough sleep

Don’t miss out on your beauty sleep just to binge-watch a show. Trust us it’s not worth losing even a single minute of your sleepover anything. Your skin undergoes a repair process when you are asleep and if you miss out on your precious sleep hours your skin will start looking dull and saggy.

Whereas catching enough sleep will make your complexion appear brighter. Your skin will start looking plump and there will be fewer chances for your skin to get any wrinkles and fine lines.

7. Always remove your makeup

After a long day at work or a girls’ night out, everyone becomes a lazy bum when it comes to removing makeup. But here is what makeup does to your skin when it stays on for longer hours it starts suffocating your skin.  And as a result, you get those ugly bumps and breakouts the next morning you wake up.

So it is advisable to hit the washroom as soon as you get home because once you hit the couch there won’t be any force on earth that would be able to move you up again. You can use makeup removing liquids or wipes to remove the makeup. Soapy water also works fine for this purpose. Just make sure you apply a generous layer of moisturizer after you are done removing your makeup because makeup removers and wipes tend to dry out the skin.

8. Let your pimples be

We cannot emphasize enough the fact that your pimples and acne need to be left alone. You are definitely not supposed to pick at it all the time.

Picking, squeezing, pulling, and even touching will make it nothing but worse. If you keep on touching the pimples you will spread the bacteria around your entire face and there will be an entire pool of pimples on your face the next day. It may be tempting for you to pop those pimples but your skin hates you for it. For once just treat a pimple-like it’s invisible to you and you will see it vanish so soon that you won’t believe yourself.
