Apiban Tablet 2.5mg Uses

• May help prevent blood clots after hip replacement surgery
• May help prevent blood clots after knee replacement surgery
• May lower the risk of repeat deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism
• May be used to reduce stroke risk in selected atrial fibrillation patients

How to use Apiban Tablet 2.5mg?

• Swallow the tablet whole with water
• Take it with or without food
• Take doses about 12 hours apart, at the same times daily
• Do not stop suddenly without medical advice

Contraindications

• Should not be used by patients allergic to apixaban or any ingredient
• Should not be used during active bleeding
• Should not be used in severe liver disease with bleeding risk
• Should not be used with mechanical heart valves unless a specialist advises

Risks and warnings

• Do not stop early: as this may raise the risk of stroke and dangerous clots
• Do not combine with aspirin, NSAIDs or other blood thinners: unless your doctor advises, since bleeding risk rises
• Use with caution: if you have kidney or liver disease, since this affects how the medicine is cleared
• Use with caution: if you are elderly or underweight, since bleeding risk is higher
• Use with caution: if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, since safety is not well established
• Tell your doctor or dentist: before spinal anesthesia, surgery or any procedure, since a spinal bleed may occur

• Easy bruising or nosebleeds
• Bleeding gums or longer bleeding from small cuts
• Nausea
• Low red blood cell count (anemia)
• Serious signs such as black stools, blood in urine or vomiting blood need urgent care

• Store at room temperature below 25°C
• Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep tablets in the original blister strip
• Keep out of reach of children
