Shifa International Hospital, established in 1993, is a state of the art 550-bed healthcare facility located near Pitras Bukhari Rd, Islamabad. The hospital was conceived in 1985 by a group of US healthcare professionals including Dr. Zaheer Ahmad, with the goal to provide quality healthcare services to the people of Pakistan.

It was incorporated in September 20, 1987 as a Private Limited Company and construction began in early 1988. Later in October 12, 1989 it was changed to a Public Limited Company. Upon its formation the hospital had 8 beds and 36 OPD clinics.
