Bactamox Injection combines Amoxicillin with Sulbactam, a beta lactamase inhibitor. Many bacteria produce an enzyme called beta lactamase that breaks down plain penicillin before it can work. Sulbactam blocks this enzyme, so Amoxicillin stays active against a much wider range of bacteria. Doctors reach for this injection when infections are moderate to severe or when oral antibiotics have already failed.

This 1.5gm strength is given through a vein or into a muscle, usually every eight to twelve hours depending on how serious the infection is. Hospitals often use it after surgery to prevent infection or to treat infections that started somewhere else in the body and spread. Response is usually seen within forty eight to seventy two hours of starting treatment.

Like all penicillin based antibiotics, this injection only works against bacteria, not viruses like flu or common cold. Missed doses or stopping treatment early can let surviving bacteria grow back stronger and resistant. A full course, even after symptoms improve, gives the body the best chance to clear the infection completely.

How to use Bactamox Injection 1.5gm?

• This injection is given only by a doctor or trained healthcare worker in a hospital or clinic.
• It is administered through a vein (IV) or into a muscle (IM), based on your condition.
• The powder is mixed with sterile water just before the injection is given.
• Doses are usually spaced eight to twelve hours apart, depending on the severity of infection.
• Complete the full course of treatment even if you start feeling better after a few doses.

Drug Interactions

• Probenecid: This drug slows down elimination of amoxicillin, raising its levels in the blood.
• Methotrexate: This antibiotic can reduce methotrexate clearance, increasing the risk of toxicity.
• Oral contraceptives: Antibiotics may reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills, so use a backup method.
• Warfarin: May increase bleeding risk by affecting gut bacteria that help process vitamin K.
• Allopurinol: Combined use raises the chance of developing a skin rash.

• Allergy history: Avoid this injection if you have ever had an allergic reaction to penicillin, amoxicillin or related antibiotics.
