- Potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., spironolactone): These can raise blood potassium levels further when combined with Biforge tablet.
- ACE inhibitors (e.g., enalapril): Combining with Biforge tablet increases the risk of low blood pressure, high potassium, and kidney problems.
- NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, diclofenac): These can reduce the blood pressure-lowering effect of Biforge tablet and may worsen kidney function.
- Lithium: Valsartan in Biforge tablet may raise lithium levels in the blood, increasing the risk of lithium toxicity.
- Cyclosporine: This immunosuppressant may increase the blood levels of valsartan in Biforge tablet.
Risks and warnings
- Severe aortic stenosis: Biforge tablet must be used with extreme caution as low blood pressure can worsen this condition.
- Low blood volume or salt depletion: Biforge tablet may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure in patients on diuretics or with low fluid levels.
- Kidney artery narrowing (renal artery stenosis): Valsartan in Biforge tablet can reduce kidney function in these patients.
- Heart failure or recent heart attack: Biforge tablet should be started cautiously, as blood pressure may drop too low.
