Drug Interactions

- Live vaccines: Prolonged steroid exposure can reduce immune response to vaccines, though this is less relevant with short term eye use.
- Silver containing products: Sulfacetamide should not be combined with silver based eye preparations due to reduced effectiveness.

- Raised eye pressure: Prolonged use can increase pressure inside the eye and lead to glaucoma.
- Cataract risk: Long term steroid use in the eye is linked to cataract formation.
- Delayed healing: The steroid component can slow healing of corneal wounds.
- Sulfa allergy: Patients with a known sulfa drug allergy should avoid this medicine.
