How to use Cefporite capsule 100mg?
- Take Cefporite capsule with food to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset.
- Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water.
- Space doses evenly, usually every 12 hours.
- Complete the entire course even if symptoms improve early.
- If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next one.
Drug Interactions
- Antacids: Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium reduce cefpodoxime absorption, so space doses at least two hours apart.
- Acid Reducers: H2 blockers and proton pump inhibitors lower stomach acid and can reduce how much cefpodoxime is absorbed.
- Probenecid: Probenecid slows the elimination of cefpodoxime and can raise its levels in the blood.
- Warfarin: Cefpodoxime may increase the blood thinning effect of warfarin, raising the risk of bleeding.
Risks and warnings
- Allergy Risk: Avoid Cefporite if you have a known allergy to cephalosporins or penicillin, as cross reactivity can occur.
- Kidney Function: Dose adjustment may be needed in patients with reduced kidney function, so inform your doctor of any kidney disease.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Use only if clearly needed and under medical supervision during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Severe Diarrhea: Cefpodoxime can cause severe diarrhea linked to Clostridioides difficile infection, especially with prolonged use.
