What Experts Say
Clexane 80mg contains a fixed high dose of enoxaparin sodium, a low molecular weight heparin that works mainly by inhibiting clotting factor Xa. This action slows the clotting cascade and helps prevent further growth of an existing blood clot. Doctors typically reserve this strength for weight based treatment dosing rather than routine prevention.
Because the dose is higher than prophylactic strengths, the bleeding risk is also greater. Regular monitoring of platelet counts and kidney function matters, since reduced renal clearance can allow the drug to build up in the body. Caution is advised in older adults and in anyone with a low body weight.
This strength is commonly used after confirmed deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, or during the acute phase of a heart attack, often alongside other cardiac medicines. It should never be started without a clear diagnosis and should always be given under medical supervision, with attention to any planned spinal procedures.
