What Experts Say
Clopidogrel works by blocking the P2Y12 receptor on blood platelets. This stops platelets from clumping together inside narrowed or damaged arteries. The result is a lower chance of a heart attack or stroke.
Heart disease and stroke remain leading causes of death in Pakistan, driven by high rates of diabetes, hypertension and smoking. Cardiologists in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Rawalpindi often prescribe Clopid Tablet 75mg after a heart attack or ischemic stroke. It is also routinely used after coronary stent placement, usually alongside aspirin for a set duration decided by the treating doctor.
Doctors may order periodic blood tests to check for bleeding tendencies during long term use. This tablet should never be stopped without medical advice, especially soon after a stent. Unusual bruising, black stools or prolonged bleeding needs prompt medical attention.
