How to use Colchicine Tablet 0.5 mg?
- Colchicine tablet can be taken with or without food
- Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water
- Take this tablet exactly as prescribed, without adjusting the dose yourself
- Avoid repeating a full course too soon without medical advice
Contraindications
- This medicine must not be used by patients with combined severe kidney and liver disease
- Known allergy to colchicine rules out use of this tablet
- Those with a history of blood disorders should avoid this tablet
- People diagnosed with severe kidney disease who also take strongly interacting medicines should not use this tablet
Drug Interactions
- Clarithromycin: combined use can cause dangerous colchicine toxicity
- Cyclosporine: this tablet's levels in the blood may rise sharply
- Statins and fibrates: the risk of muscle damage increases with combined use
- Grapefruit juice: avoid it, as it can raise colchicine levels
