Deltalin Syrup formula
- Aminophylline 100mg + Ammonium Chloride 50mg + Diphenhydramine 12.5mg per 10ml

How to use Deltalin Syrup?
- Deltalin syrup can be taken with or without food
- Shake the bottle well before measuring each dose
- A measuring spoon or cup should be used to get the correct dose
- A higher strength or adjusted frequency may be prescribed by your doctor for more severe symptoms
- This syrup should not be taken with other antihistamines or cough medicines unless advised by a doctor
Contraindications
- Known allergy to aminophylline, ammonium chloride, or diphenhydramine
- Patients currently taking or who have taken MAO inhibitors (used for depression) within the last 14 days
- Children under 2 years of age without medical supervision
- Patients with severe heart arrhythmias or active seizure disorders
- Patients with uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, as aminophylline can worsen the condition
Drug Interactions
- Fluvoxamine and other CYP1A2 inhibitors: These can raise aminophylline levels in the blood and increase the risk of side effects
- Diuretics (water pills): These may enhance the effect of ammonium chloride and increase the risk of electrolyte changes
- CNS depressants including alcohol, sedatives, and sleeping pills: These can increase drowsiness caused by diphenhydramine
- MAO inhibitors (isocarboxazid, phenelzine, selegiline): Combining with diphenhydramine can cause serious and dangerous reactions
- Opioid pain medicines: These can increase sedation when taken alongside Deltalin syrup
Risks and warnings
- Aminophylline sensitivity: Patients with a history of seizures should use this syrup with caution, as aminophylline can lower the seizure threshold
- Heart conditions: Aminophylline can increase heart rate and may worsen palpitations or arrhythmias
- Asthma or COPD patients: Deltalin syrup is not a replacement for inhaled bronchodilators in acute or severe attacks
- Caffeine intake: Caffeine-containing drinks like tea, coffee, and energy drinks can increase aminophylline side effects and should be reduced
- Drowsiness risk: Diphenhydramine causes drowsiness, which may be stronger in some patients
- Pregnancy: This syrup should only be used during pregnancy if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor
- Breastfeeding: Diphenhydramine can pass into breast milk and is not recommended during breastfeeding without medical advice
- Elderly patients: Older adults are more sensitive to the sedating effects of diphenhydramine and the stimulating effects of aminophylline
- Kidney or liver problems: Use with caution, as the ingredients may take longer to clear from the body
- Driving and machinery: Drowsiness from diphenhydramine can affect concentration and reaction time
