How to use Diajard-MXR Tablet 1000 / 12.5mg?

• Take Diajard-MXR Tablet 1000 / 12.5mg as prescribed, usually once daily with a meal.
• Swallow the tablet whole with water, and do not crush, chew or split it.
• Drink enough fluids through the day unless the doctor restricts them.
• Keep taking it even when sugar levels are normal, and do not change the dose without advice.

Drug Interactions

• Insulin and sulfonylureas: Combined use can cause low blood sugar, so doses may need reduction.
• Diuretics such as furosemide: Can add to fluid loss and low blood pressure.
• Alcohol: Raises the risk of lactic acidosis.
• Iodinated contrast dye: Treatment is usually paused around the procedure to protect the kidneys.

Risks and warnings

• Lactic acidosis: Rare but serious, so avoid in severe kidney or liver disease, heavy alcohol use or dehydration.
