What Experts Say
Diclofenac Sodium is an NSAID that blocks cyclooxygenase-1 and cyclooxygenase-2 enzymes to cut prostaglandin production in inflamed joint tissue. This lowers pain, swelling and morning stiffness in patients living with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, making daily movement noticeably easier for most users.
Misoprostol is a synthetic prostaglandin E1 analogue that protects the stomach lining by boosting mucus and bicarbonate secretion while lowering gastric acid output. This mechanism directly offsets the ulcer risk that long term NSAID therapy is known to carry in the digestive tract over time.
Combining both actives in one tablet lets patients who need regular NSAID treatment continue therapy with a meaningfully lower chance of gastric or duodenal ulceration compared to diclofenac taken alone, which is why rheumatology guidance favors this pairing for high risk arthritis patients in Pakistan.
