How to use Engerix-B Injection 10mcg / 5ml?

• Administer by intramuscular injection into the anterolateral thigh in infants or the deltoid muscle in older children, never into the buttock
• Give as a three dose primary series at 0, 1 and 6 months of age, following Pakistan's routine immunization schedule
• Each single dose drawn from this 5ml multi dose vial equals 0.5ml (10mcg), the same as one dose from the single dose presentation
• Shake the vial gently before every withdrawal since the vaccine settles as a fine white precipitate on standing
• Withdraw each dose with a fresh sterile needle and syringe, and never reinsert a used needle into the vial
• Keep the opened vial refrigerated between uses and discard it once the maximum in use period or vial integrity is compromised
• Complete the full three dose series even if a dose is delayed, since restarting the entire series is not required
