Esozil contains esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor that shuts down the final step of acid production in the stomach. This gives relief of burning and acid regurgitation within days. Switching between brands of the same salt is common in Pakistan, but the dose and timing before meals should stay the same. Taking two acid reducers together is rarely needed.

The usual course for erosive GERD is 40 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks, then a lower dose to prevent relapse. The tablet is taken before a meal for best effect. Drug Interactions

• Clopidogrel: Reduces its antiplatelet effect through CYP2C19 inhibition.
• Warfarin: May raise INR, monitor closely.
• Methotrexate: Methotrexate levels may rise.
• Nelfinavir and atazanavir: Absorption falls, so avoid together.
