How to use Fefol Capsule?
- Take one capsule daily, or as directed by your doctor
- Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water
- Take with or after food if it causes stomach upset
- Avoid taking with tea, coffee, milk, or calcium supplements, as they reduce iron absorption
- Take at least two hours apart from antacids or antibiotics
- Do not crush or open the capsule
- Continue the full course advised by your doctor, even if symptoms improve
Drug Interactions
- Antacids: Reduce iron absorption significantly, so space dosing by at least two hours.
- Tetracycline and Quinolone Antibiotics: Iron binds with these antibiotics, lowering the effectiveness of both, so separate dosing times.
- Levothyroxine: Iron can reduce absorption of thyroid medicine when taken together.
- Calcium Supplements: Compete with iron for absorption in the gut, reducing effectiveness of both.
- Proton Pump Inhibitors and H2 Blockers: Reduced stomach acid from these medicines can lower iron absorption.
Risks and warnings
