How to use Ferrium Tablet 40mg?

• Adults: 1 Ferrium 40 mg tablet once daily, or as advised by the doctor.
• Take with water, preferably on an empty stomach, or with food if the stomach is upset.
• Keep tea, coffee, milk and antacids at least 2 hours away from the dose.
• Children's dose depends on body weight, so use only as directed by the doctor.
• Continue for the full course advised, even after hemoglobin improves.

Drug Interactions

• Antacids and calcium: They reduce iron absorption, so keep them at least 2 hours apart.
• Levothyroxine: Iron can lower its absorption, so separate the doses by 4 hours.
• Tetracyclines and quinolone antibiotics: Iron can bind them and weaken their effect, so space the doses.
• Tea, coffee and milk: These can reduce iron absorption when taken with the tablet.
• Proton pump inhibitors: Long term use can lower iron absorption.

Risks and warnings

• Iron overload: Do not take iron without confirmed deficiency, as excess iron builds up in the body.
• Accidental overdose in children: Iron overdose is dangerous in children, so store the pack out of reach.
