This is a hospital only anesthetic. Patients never handle or self administer Forane, and dosing is adjusted continuously by trained anesthesia staff during the procedure.

How to use Forane Injection 99.90%?
- Administered only by a qualified anesthesiologist or anesthesia provider in a hospital operating theater or ICU.
- Delivered through a specially calibrated isoflurane vaporizer, never given as a direct injection despite the product name.
- Dose is adjusted continuously based on the patient's vital signs and depth of anesthesia during the procedure.
- Requires continuous monitoring of heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels and breathing throughout use.
- Not available for patient purchase or home use under any circumstance.
Drug Interactions
- Muscle relaxants: Isoflurane strengthens the effect of drugs like vecuronium, so lower doses are usually needed.
- Nitrous oxide: Combined use lowers the amount of isoflurane needed for the same depth of anesthesia.
- Beta blockers: Combined use can increase the risk of low blood pressure and a slow heart rate.
- Epinephrine: Isoflurane increases the heart's sensitivity to epinephrine, raising the risk of irregular heartbeat.
Risks and warnings
- Malignant hyperthermia: Isoflurane can trigger a rare but life threatening reaction in genetically susceptible patients.
- Blood pressure drop: Isoflurane can lower blood pressure significantly, especially at higher doses.
- Breathing depression: It suppresses natural breathing, so airway support and ventilation are required.
- Liver and kidney disease: Requires caution and dose adjustment in patients with existing organ impairment.
- Raised brain pressure: Caution is needed in patients with head injury or brain swelling.
Side Effects
- Low blood pressure
- Irregular heart rhythm
- Nausea and vomiting after waking
- Shivering during recovery
- Cough or airway irritation during induction
- Respiratory depression
- Malignant hyperthermia in rare, genetically susceptible cases
Storage Conditions
Store Forane in its original amber bottle at room temperature, away from open flame and direct heat sources. Keep tightly closed when not connected to a vaporizer, since isoflurane evaporates easily. Store in a hospital pharmacy or operating theater, out of reach of unauthorized staff and children.
