About Gpride-MSR Tablet 1mg/500mg
A combination tablet with Glimepiride and Metformin used to manage blood sugar in type 2 diabetes.
Drug Class
- Oral antidiabetic combination, sulfonylurea plus biguanide
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus not controlled by metformin alone
- Blood sugar management when diet and exercise are not enough
- Combination therapy in place of taking Glimepiride and Metformin as two separate tablets
- Long term glycemic control alongside a diabetic diet plan
What Experts Say
Gpride-MSR combines two medicines that work differently but complement each other. Glimepiride pushes the pancreas to release more insulin, while Metformin reduces the amount of sugar the liver produces and helps muscle and fat cells use insulin more effectively, together giving broader blood sugar control than either medicine alone.
Doctors often prescribe this combination when metformin alone no longer keeps blood sugar in a healthy range. Taking both medicines in one tablet also makes it easier for patients to stay consistent with treatment instead of managing two separate prescriptions with different dosing schedules and pill counts.
Regular blood sugar monitoring is important with this combination, since Glimepiride can lower blood sugar too much if meals are skipped or delayed. Kidney function is usually checked periodically as well, because Metformin needs adequate kidney function to be cleared safely from the body.
