Histalyn eye drops 5ml / 2% formula
How to use Histalyn eye drops 5ml / 2%?
- One to two drops in each affected eye, usually four times a day, works well for most patients.
- Contact lenses should come out before each dose and can generally go back in after about 15 minutes.
- Regular use during allergy season, rather than only when symptoms flare, tends to give better control.
- Clean hands before application reduce the chance of introducing infection into the eye.
Drug Interactions
- Other eye drops: A gap of about 5 to 10 minutes between this drop and any other eye medicine helps each one absorb properly.
- Eye ointments: This drop should be used before an eye ointment, not after, so it is not blocked from reaching the eye surface.
Risks and warnings
- Mild stinging: A brief stinging or burning feeling right after application is common and usually settles quickly.
- Infection symptoms: Thick yellow discharge, severe pain or vision changes point to a different problem, such as a bacterial or viral infection, and need a doctor's review rather than this drop alone.
- Contact lens caution: Soft contact lenses should stay out during active use, since the preservative in some formulations can interact with lens material.
- Worsening symptoms: This drop should be stopped and a doctor consulted if redness or irritation gets worse instead of better.
Side Effects
- Brief stinging or burning after the drop goes in.
- Temporary blurred vision right after application.
- Mild eye irritation or a feeling of dryness.
- Rarely, an allergic reaction to the drop itself, with increased redness or swelling around the eye.
Storage Conditions
- Storage below 25°C, away from direct sunlight, keeps this eye drop stable.
- Freezing temperatures should be avoided, since the solution can lose effectiveness once frozen.
- An opened bottle is best discarded 28 days after first use, even if some liquid remains, to lower the risk of contamination.
