How to use Hith capsule 250mg?
- A typical adult course runs for 3 to 5 days, taken once daily at roughly the same time.
- This capsule can be taken with or without food, though a light meal may reduce stomach upset for some patients.
- The full course should be finished even if symptoms improve early, since stopping early can let the infection come back.
- A missed dose should be taken as soon as remembered, unless it is almost time for the next one.
Drug Interactions
- Antacids: Aluminum and magnesium antacids lower the absorption of this capsule when taken together.
- Warfarin: This antibiotic can raise the blood thinning effect of warfarin, so clotting tests may need closer monitoring.
- Digoxin: Blood levels of digoxin can rise when combined with this antibiotic, raising toxicity risk.
- Statins: Cholesterol lowering statins combined with this capsule carry a higher risk of muscle related side effects.
- Ergot medicines: Migraine medicines from the ergot family should not be combined with this antibiotic.
Risks and warnings
- Heart rhythm risk: This antibiotic can affect heart rhythm in people with an existing QT prolongation problem, so a heart history should be shared with the doctor.
- Liver disease: Patients with liver problems need dose caution, since this drug is processed by the liver.
