Diabetes cases are rising steadily across Pakistan, and endocrinologists in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Rawalpindi frequently prescribe Humalog Lispro for faster mealtime insulin coverage. It is injected under the skin, never taken by mouth.
Insulin lispro starts lowering blood sugar within about 15 minutes and its effect lasts roughly three to five hours. This rapid action suits use right before or right after meals.
The biggest risk with any insulin is hypoglycemia, a dangerous drop in blood sugar that can cause shakiness, confusion or fainting. Dose, meal timing and activity should stay consistent to avoid this.

Risks and warnings
- Hypoglycemia: Low blood sugar is the most common serious risk, causing sweating, shakiness, confusion or, in severe cases, loss of consciousness.
- Dose Errors: Mixing up units or insulin types can cause dangerous blood sugar swings, always double check the pen or vial before injecting.
- Injection Site Reactions: Repeated injections in the same spot can cause fatty lumps that affect insulin absorption.
- Illness Or Missed Meals: Skipping meals after dosing, or being unwell, raises the risk of a sudden blood sugar drop.
- Allergic Reactions: Rarely, insulin lispro can trigger a serious allergic reaction requiring emergency care.
