INFANRIX HEXA contains inactivated and purified antigens from six different germs, which trains a baby's immune system to recognize and fight them without causing the actual diseases.

It is given as an injection in the thigh, usually as part of the 6, 10 and 14 week schedule alongside other routine vaccines used in Pakistan, with further doses sometimes advised later.

Mild fever, fussiness and soreness at the injection site are common and usually settle within a day or two, and parents should complete the full course and tell the doctor about any severe reaction to a past dose.

How to use INFANRIX HEXA injection?

• Given only by a doctor or trained health worker as an intramuscular injection, usually in the thigh.
• Follow the vaccination schedule recommended by your pediatrician or Pakistan's Expanded Programme on Immunization.
• Keep the next dose appointment to complete the full primary series.
• Give paracetamol as advised by the doctor if mild fever develops after the injection.

Drug Interactions

INFANRIX HEXA can generally be given alongside other routine childhood vaccines.

• Other EPI vaccines (rotavirus, pneumococcal): Can usually be given at the same visit at separate injection sites.
• Immunosuppressive treatment: A weakened immune response may occur in children on immunosuppressive therapy.

Risks and warnings

• Fever: Mild fever is common after vaccination and usually settles within 1 to 2 days.
• Injection site reaction: Swelling, redness or soreness at the injection site is common.
• Severe allergy: Avoid in a child with a known severe allergic reaction to a previous dose or any vaccine component.
• Illness at time of vaccination: Postpone if the child has a moderate to severe acute illness with fever.

• Drowsiness
• Vomiting (uncommon)

Storage Conditions

Store between 2°C and 8°C in a refrigerator, protected from light, and do not freeze.
