What Experts Say
Doctors describe Flurbiprofen as a propionic acid NSAID that blocks cyclooxygenase enzymes to lower prostaglandin production. This reduces pain, swelling and stiffness in joints affected by arthritis. The sustained release capsule form allows the drug to dissolve slowly, giving steady relief over several hours instead of a short spike and drop in effect.
Physicians in Pakistan often prescribe this sustained release form for patients with chronic joint conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, where once or twice daily dosing improves adherence. Many patients find the extended action helpful for managing morning stiffness and reducing the number of daily doses needed.
Experts caution that NSAIDs like Flurbiprofen carry a real risk of stomach irritation, ulcers and cardiovascular strain with prolonged use. Doctors usually recommend the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration, along with food intake and regular monitoring in patients with heart, kidney or gastrointestinal disease.
