How to use Kunyrin Tablet 15mg?
- Take exactly as directed by your oncologist or treating doctor
- May be taken with or without food
- The tablet may be crushed into liquid or soft food and taken right away if needed
- Do not delay a dose after methotrexate exposure, since prompt use matters
Contraindications
- Not recommended for patients with a known allergy to folinic acid
- Not suitable for pernicious anemia or vitamin B12 deficiency anemia, since this tablet can mask the condition
- Avoid as the sole treatment in vitamin B12 deficiency
- Contraindicated as a substitute for parenteral dosing in severe vomiting or malabsorption
Drug Interactions
- Fluorouracil: this combination can increase the risk of severe toxicity, especially in elderly patients
- Trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole: this tablet can reduce how well this antibiotic combination works against bacterial infections
- Phenobarbital, phenytoin and primidone: folinic acid may reduce how well these seizure medicines control seizures
Risks and warnings
- Timing after methotrexate: give this tablet as promptly as possible, since a delay reduces how well it protects against toxicity
