What Experts Say

Permethrin belongs to the synthetic pyrethroid group and attacks the nerve cells of mites and lice. This paralyzes and kills them, which stops the itching cycle over the following days. A single careful application is often enough, and a second one is used after 7 to 14 days if needed. Skin absorption is low, which keeps the medicine well tolerated.

Itching can continue for 2 to 4 weeks after the mites are dead, because the skin is still reacting. This is normal and does not mean treatment failed. Coverage matters most, so the cream must reach the neck, folds, nails and between the fingers and toes. A 30 g tube is usually enough for one adult, and larger bodies may need more.

Scabies spreads quickly in crowded Pakistani homes, hostels and schools. Everyone in the house should be treated together, and bedding and clothes should be washed in hot water. Babies under 2 months need a doctor's decision before use. Ask a doctor or pharmacist if itching or new burrows appear after the second application.

How to use Lotrix Cream 30g?

• Adults and children over 2 months: apply the cream to the whole body from the neck down, as advised by the doctor.
• Rub it into clean, dry and cool skin, including skin folds, under the nails and between the fingers and toes.
• Leave it on for 8 to 14 hours, then wash it off with a shower or bath.
• Repeat once after 7 to 14 days only if a doctor advises it.
• For head lice, apply to the scalp and hair as directed, then rinse after the recommended time.

Drug Interactions

• Other skin creams and lotions: Applying them at the same time may reduce how well the skin absorbs this cream.
• Immune suppressing medicines: Weak immunity may make crusted scabies harder to clear, so the doctor should know.
• Other insecticide products: Using them together can increase skin irritation.
• Cortisone creams: They may hide itching and signs of treatment response, so use them only if prescribed.

Risks and warnings

• Eye and mouth contact: Keep it away from the eyes, mouth and open wounds, and rinse well with water if it gets in.
• Broken or infected skin: Use it with care on broken skin, as it may sting and cause more irritation.
• Allergy: Do not use it if you are allergic to permethrin, pyrethrins or chrysanthemums.
• Young children: Babies under 2 months should use it only on a doctor's advice.
