Iron polymaltose complex is a non ionic iron compound made of iron hydroxide bound to a polymaltose carrier. Unlike ferrous salts such as ferrous sulfate, it does not release free iron ions in the stomach, so it causes far less irritation to the gastric lining and less metallic taste in most patients.

How to use Maltofer Tablets?

• Take with or right after a meal to improve tolerance
• Chew the tablet fully or swallow whole with a small amount of liquid
• Take at the same time each day for consistent absorption
• Follow the dose and duration advised by your doctor based on your iron levels
• Do not crush and mix with hot drinks, as heat can affect the coating

Drug Interactions

• Oral Tetracycline Antibiotics: Iron can reduce absorption of these antibiotics; space doses apart by several hours
• Levothyroxine: Iron may lower absorption of thyroid hormone tablets if taken together
• Levodopa And Related Parkinson Medicines: Iron can reduce absorption of these drugs; separate dosing is advised
• Antacids And Proton Pump Inhibitors: May slightly reduce iron absorption when taken at the same time
• Other Iron Supplements: Avoid combining with additional iron products to prevent excess intake

Risks and warnings
