Dexamethasone belongs to a class of medicines called corticosteroids. It works by blocking chemical messengers in the body that trigger swelling, redness and itching in eye tissue. Ophthalmologists usually prescribe this steroid suspension for short, supervised courses only. How to use Maxidex Drops 0.1%?

• The bottle should be shaken well before each use
• The head should be tilted back with the lower eyelid pulled down gently
• The prescribed number of drops goes into the affected eye
• The eye should stay closed gently for one to two minutes without blinking
• The dropper tip should not touch the eye or any surface
• A gap of at least five minutes is needed before using any other eye drop

• Other topical eye medicines: Using multiple eye drops together can dilute the effect if applied too close together.
• Live vaccines: Corticosteroids can reduce the immune response to vaccines administered during treatment.
