- Polyethylene Glycol 3350 (Macrogol) 13.125g per sachet
How to use Movcol powder?
- Empty the full contents of one sachet into a glass of 125ml of water
- Stir well until the powder is completely dissolved before drinking
- The solution should be taken as one full drink, not sipped slowly
- Morning use is preferred, but any consistent time of day is acceptable
- Fluid intake throughout the day supports the medicine's effect
Contraindications
- Patients with a confirmed bowel obstruction or intestinal blockage
- Patients with a suspected or diagnosed perforation of the bowel wall
- Patients with severe inflammatory bowel disease in an active flare
- Patients with a known allergy to polyethylene glycol or any sachet ingredient
- Patients with unexplained abdominal pain without a confirmed diagnosis
Drug Interactions
- Oral medications taken alongside Movcol sachet may be absorbed less effectively due to the bowel-flushing effect; take other medicines 2 hours before or after this sachet.
- Diuretic medicines may increase the risk of electrolyte imbalance when taken together with Movcol sachet.
- Medications for heart conditions that depend on stable potassium levels should be monitored carefully during Movcol sachet use.
Risks and warnings
- Bowel obstruction history: Patients with any history of blocked or narrowed bowel must not use this medicine without a confirmed diagnosis of simple constipation
- Electrolyte imbalance: Prolonged use can affect sodium, potassium, and bicarbonate levels in the blood; regular monitoring is needed for long-term use
- Eating disorders: Patients with anorexia or bulimia must not use Movcol sachet without direct medical supervision
- Inflammatory bowel disease: Patients with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis should use this medicine only under a doctor's guidance
- Pregnancy: Safety in pregnancy is not fully established; a doctor's advice is required before use
- Breastfeeding: It is not confirmed whether this medicine passes into breast milk; medical advice is recommended
- Elderly patients: Older adults are at higher risk of serious side effects and should be monitored during treatment
- Kidney or liver problems: Patients with impaired kidney function should use this medicine with caution and under supervision
Movcol Sachet Side Effects
