How to use Omicin Injection 600mg?

• Given by intramuscular injection or as a slow intravenous infusion
• Diluted and infused over at least one hour when given intravenously
• Never given as a rapid intravenous push
• Administered only by a trained healthcare professional

Contraindications

• Avoid in patients with a known allergy to lincomycin or clindamycin
• Contraindicated in patients with a history of antibiotic associated colitis
• Not suitable for minor bacterial or viral infections
• Should not be used in infants under one month of age

Drug Interactions

• Neuromuscular blocking agents: their effect is strengthened, raising the risk of breathing difficulty
• Erythromycin: works against lincomycin and should not be combined
• Kaolin or pectin based antidiarrheals: reduce absorption when taken with related oral forms

Risks and warnings

• Severe diarrhea: stop treatment and seek care right away, since colitis can develop
• Rapid injection: must be avoided since it can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure
• Liver or kidney impairment: requires dose adjustment and closer monitoring
• Myasthenia gravis: used with caution since lincomycin can worsen muscle weakness
