What Experts Say
This tablet combines two pain relieving medicines that work in different ways. Diclofenac potassium is an NSAID that blocks prostaglandin production to reduce pain and inflammation, while paracetamol acts mainly in the brain and spinal cord to lower pain signals and fever.
Diclofenac potassium is absorbed faster than diclofenac sodium, which is why potassium salt combinations are often chosen for quick relief of acute pain like a sprain, a headache, or period pain. Adding paracetamol allows a lower NSAID dose to still give strong pain relief, which can reduce some NSAID related side effects.
Even with this combination approach, it is still an NSAID containing product, so it carries the same general cautions as other diclofenac medicines regarding stomach, kidney, and heart health with regular or prolonged use. It is best used for short term pain relief rather than a routine daily medicine.
