How to use Pequit Tablet 100mg?

• Swallow the tablet whole with water
• Take with or without food at a consistent time each day
• Do not crush, chew or split the tablet
• Do not stop this medicine abruptly without medical advice

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in dementia related psychosis due to a higher risk of death in elderly patients
• Not suitable for patients with a history of stroke or other cerebrovascular disease
• Avoid in narrow angle glaucoma
• Not recommended for patients with uncontrolled seizure disorder

Drug Interactions

• Ketoconazole and other CYP3A4 inhibitors: these raise quetiapine levels and usually require a lower dose
• Phenytoin and carbamazepine: these can reduce quetiapine levels significantly
• Alcohol and other sedatives: combined use increases drowsiness and impairs alertness

Risks and warnings

• Elderly patients with dementia: carry a boxed warning risk of increased mortality with this drug class
• Metabolic changes: watch for weight gain, high blood sugar and cholesterol changes during treatment
• Low blood pressure: this medicine can cause dizziness on standing, especially when starting treatment
• Suicidal thoughts: young patients should be monitored closely, especially early in treatment
