What Experts Say
Bambuterol Hydrochloride is a prodrug that converts slowly into terbutaline in the body. This gradual conversion gives Pulmitac Tablet a longer duration of action than many short acting bronchodilators, which is why doctors often prescribe it once daily for maintenance therapy rather than sudden symptom relief.
Clinicians classify Pulmitac Tablet as a long acting beta2 agonist. It works by relaxing smooth muscle in the airway walls, which widens the bronchial passages and lowers airway resistance. This mechanism makes it useful for patients with persistent wheeze, nocturnal breathlessness, or exercise related chest tightness linked to asthma or COPD.
Because beta2 agonists can affect heart rate, blood pressure, and blood potassium, experts recommend caution in patients with cardiac arrhythmia, thyroid overactivity, or uncontrolled diabetes. Regular follow up with a pulmonologist helps balance symptom control against these systemic effects, especially during dose adjustment.
Drug Class
