What Experts Say
Quetiapine belongs to a class of medicines called atypical antipsychotics. It works by balancing dopamine and serotonin activity in the brain, which helps reduce hallucinations, delusions and mood swings. The extended release form in Qusel XR releases the medicine slowly, so blood levels stay steady through the day and night.
Mental health experts note that mood and psychotic disorders often need long term, consistent treatment rather than short bursts of medicine. Steady dosing with an extended release tablet supports this by lowering the ups and downs seen with immediate release forms. Once daily XR dosing is often easier for patients to remember and stick with.
Living with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder is not a personal failing, and effective medicines like quetiapine give people real chances at stability and a normal daily routine. Regular follow up with a psychiatrist helps fine tune the dose and catch side effects early.
