What Experts Say
Doctors prescribe the 2mg strength of Sem-P as the starting dose for patients beginning semaglutide therapy. It works by mimicking a natural gut hormone called GLP-1, prompting the pancreas to release insulin only when blood sugar rises and slowing digestion so sugar enters the bloodstream more gradually.
Type 2 diabetes affects a very large share of adults in Pakistan, and many are diagnosed only after complications appear. Newer GLP-1 injections like this one are becoming more available in local pharmacies, but cost remains a major barrier for most patients compared to older oral diabetes tablets.
When starting Sem-P 2mg, doctors usually check kidney function and screen for a personal or family history of thyroid tumours before the first dose. Mild nausea, reduced appetite, or mild constipation in the first few weeks is common and usually settles as the body slowly adjusts to this lower starting dose.
