Signora tablet helps manage androgen-related conditions in women by blocking androgen effects and regulating ovulation.
Signora Tablet Uses
- Used for severe acne in women that has not responded to antibiotics
- Helpful in managing hirsutism, which is excessive unwanted facial or body hair
- Effective against androgenic alopecia, a pattern of hair thinning linked to high androgen levels
- Indicated for irregular or absent periods caused by hormonal imbalance
- Treats polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) by reducing excess androgen levels
- Approved for use as an oral contraceptive to prevent unwanted pregnancy
- Supports the management of seborrhoea, a condition causing oily skin and scalp

Signora Tablet formula
- Cyproterone Acetate 2mg + Ethinylestradiol 35mcg
How to use Signora Tablet?
- The Signora tablet is taken orally with a glass of water
- The tablet can be taken with or without food, at a consistent time each day
- Maintaining a regular daily time helps avoid missed doses and ensures steady hormone levels
- The tablet-free break must not be extended beyond 7 days
Contraindications
- Active or past history of blood clots in the legs or lungs (venous thromboembolism)
- Known or suspected breast cancer or any estrogen-sensitive cancer
- Severe liver disease or any active liver disorder
- Undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding
- Known or suspected pregnancy
- Breastfeeding mothers
- Women who smoke and are above 35 years of age
- History of stroke, heart attack, or severe cardiovascular disease
- History of meningioma (a type of brain tumour)
Drug Interactions
- Rifampicin: This antibiotic reduces the effectiveness of the Signora tablet and may lead to contraceptive failure
- Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, Phenobarbital: These anti-seizure medicines speed up the breakdown of the hormones in the Signora tablet
- Ritonavir and other HIV medicines: These can alter hormone levels and reduce the tablet's effectiveness
- St. John's Wort: This herbal supplement lowers hormone levels in the blood and reduces effectiveness
- Griseofulvin: This antifungal medicine may reduce the contraceptive reliability of the Signora tablet
- Ciclosporin: Signora tablet may increase the blood concentration of ciclosporin, raising the risk of side effects
Risks and warnings
- Blood clot risk: Signora tablet carries a higher risk of venous thromboembolism compared to some other oral contraceptives; women with clotting disorders must not use it
- Liver monitoring: Regular liver function tests are recommended during long-term use, as the tablet is metabolised in the liver
- Meningioma: Women with a personal or family history of meningioma must avoid Signora tablet due to a known class-level risk with cyproterone acetate
- Mood changes: Women with a history of depression should be monitored closely, as hormonal medicines can affect mood
- High blood pressure: Blood pressure should be checked before and during treatment, as this tablet can cause or worsen hypertension
- Migraines: Women who experience migraines with aura should not use Signora tablet due to increased stroke risk
- Pregnancy: Signora tablet must not be used during pregnancy, as hormonal disruption can harm the developing baby
- Breastfeeding: Use during breastfeeding is not recommended, as hormones may pass into breast milk
- Elderly patients: Signora tablet is not indicated for use in postmenopausal women.
- Driving and machinery: No significant effect on alertness is expected, but mood-related side effects should be considered

- Nausea or mild stomach discomfort
- Breast tenderness or fullness
- Headache or migraine
- Mood changes, including low mood or irritability
- Weight gain or fluid retention
- Reduced sexual desire
- Spotting or breakthrough bleeding between periods
- Skin darkening, particularly on the face
- High blood pressure
- Blood clots in the legs or lungs (rare but serious)
- Liver dysfunction or jaundice (rare)
- Benign liver tumours (very rare, with long-term use)
Storage Conditions
- Store at room temperature, below 25°C
- Keep away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture
