Simgesic Tablet Uses

Simgesic tablet contains Tramadol and Paracetamol. It is used to manage moderate to severe pain that does not respond to non-opioid analgesics alone.

Both ingredients target pain through different pathways. Tramadol acts on the central nervous system, while Paracetamol works peripherally. This dual action makes Simgesic more effective than single-ingredient options in many cases.

It is a prescription medicine and should only be taken under medical supervision.

Simgesic tablet belongs to the narcotic analgesic drug class. It contains two active ingredients with complementary mechanisms of action.

Tramadol Hydrochloride 37.5mg acts centrally on the nervous system. It binds to opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord, reducing the perception of pain. It also inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, which further contributes to pain relief.

Paracetamol 325mg works peripherally by blocking prostaglandin synthesis. Prostaglandins are chemicals that sensitize nerve endings to pain. By reducing their production, Paracetamol lowers pain intensity and also helps reduce fever.

Used together, Tramadol and Paracetamol provide broader and more effective pain control than either ingredient used alone.

When Not to Use Simgesic Tablet

• Known allergy to Tramadol, Paracetamol, or any component of the tablet
• Severe liver disease or active hepatitis
• Severe kidney impairment
• History of seizures or epilepsy
• Patients currently taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping them
• Acute alcohol intoxication or use of alcohol-containing medicines
• Children under 12 years of age
• Patients under 18 years of age following tonsil or adenoid surgery
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding, unless specifically directed by a doctor

Missed Dose

If a dose of Simgesic is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, the missed dose should be skipped. Two doses should never be taken at the same time to make up for a missed one. This medicine is generally used on an as-needed basis, so a fixed schedule may not always apply.

Overdose

Taking more Simgesic than prescribed can cause serious harm, including liver damage from Paracetamol and respiratory depression from Tramadol. Signs of overdose may include extreme drowsiness, slow or difficult breathing, nausea, vomiting, and confusion. A doctor or emergency services should be contacted immediately if an overdose is suspected.

How to use Simgesic Tablet?

• Take Simgesic tablet by mouth with a full glass of water
• May be taken with food to reduce the chance of nausea
• Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet; swallow it whole
• Take only as prescribed by your doctor; do not self-adjust the dose
• Do not take more than 8 tablets in any 24-hour period
• Do not take other Paracetamol-containing medicines at the same time
• Avoid alcohol throughout the course of treatment
• Store the medicine safely away from children

Drug Interactions

• MAOIs (e.g., phenelzine, selegiline): serious and potentially life-threatening interaction; avoid combination
• CNS depressants (e.g., benzodiazepines, sleeping pills, antihistamines): increased risk of sedation and respiratory depression
• Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, tricyclics): increased risk of serotonin syndrome
• Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin): Paracetamol may enhance anticoagulant effect with prolonged use
• Carbamazepine: may reduce the effectiveness of Tramadol
• Alcohol: increases risk of liver damage and CNS depression; avoid during treatment

• Tramadol carries a risk of dependence and misuse; use for the shortest duration necessary
• Do not stop taking Simgesic abruptly after prolonged use; taper under medical guidance to avoid withdrawal
• Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment; dose adjustment may be needed
• Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the sedative and respiratory effects of Tramadol
• Use with caution in patients with a history of seizures; Tramadol can lower the seizure threshold
