How to use Synalar Cream 30 g?

• Synalar cream can be applied directly to the affected skin as a thin film
• Rub the cream in gently and wash hands thoroughly after every application
• Avoid getting the cream into the eyes, mouth, or open skin wounds
• Do not cover the treated area with bandages unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Complete the full prescribed course even if the skin starts to look better early
• Never stop using Synalar cream suddenly without telling your doctor

Contraindications

• Allergy to fluocinolone acetonide or any other ingredient in the cream
• Patients with untreated bacterial, viral, or fungal skin infections at the site
• Not suitable for use on skin with rosacea, acne, or perioral dermatitis
• Avoid in patients with a history of skin thinning at a previous application site
• Those with active tuberculosis of the skin must not use this cream
• Should not be used on open wounds, severely burned skin, or broken skin

Drug Interactions

• Other topical corticosteroids: using more than one steroid cream at the same time increases the risk of skin thinning and absorption into the bloodstream
• Immunosuppressants (e.g. tacrolimus, pimecrolimus): combining with Synalar cream may alter immune suppression effects on the skin
• Antifungal creams: if used alongside Synalar cream without medical guidance, skin infections may worsen or become harder to detect

Risks and warnings

• Prolonged use: extended use beyond the prescribed period can cause permanent skin thinning and stretch marks
• Facial application: absorption is higher on the face, so use only for short periods and in small amounts as directed
• Occlusive dressings: covering the treated area increases steroid absorption and raises the risk of serious side effects
• Skin infections: Synalar cream can mask the signs of an infection and make it harder to detect and treat
• Children: young children absorb more steroid through the skin and are at higher risk of side effects from extended use
• Pregnancy: use only when clearly needed and prescribed, as topical steroids carry a risk with prolonged exposure
• Breastfeeding: avoid applying the cream to the chest area to prevent the infant from coming into contact with it
• Kidney or liver problems: patients with impaired organ function need closer monitoring if using the cream over large skin areas

Synalar Cream Side Effects

• Burning or stinging at the application site
• Skin redness or increased irritation
• Dryness, peeling, or flaking of treated skin
• Itching that worsens rather than improves
• Folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles near treated areas)
• Skin thinning with prolonged use
• Stretch marks or permanent skin colour changes
• Contact dermatitis as a reaction to the cream itself
• Signs of systemic steroid absorption such as unusual weight gain or swelling
