How to use Tenim 50mg Tablet?
- Swallow the tablet whole with water
- Can be taken with or without food
- Take at the same time each day
- Do not stop taking it suddenly without medical advice
Contraindications
- Not suitable for patients with severe bradycardia or heart block
- Contraindicated in patients with uncontrolled heart failure
- Avoid in patients with severe asthma or bronchospasm
- Known allergy to atenolol or other beta blockers rules out its use
Drug Interactions
- Verapamil or diltiazem: combined use can cause a dangerously slow heartbeat
- Clonidine: stopping clonidine while on this tablet can cause a sharp rise in blood pressure
- NSAIDs such as ibuprofen: these can reduce the blood pressure lowering effect
- Insulin or diabetes tablets: this tablet can mask the warning signs of low blood sugar
Risks and warnings
- Diabetic patients: should monitor blood sugar closely since low blood sugar symptoms may be masked
- Sudden discontinuation: can trigger a rebound rise in blood pressure or chest pain
- Reduced kidney function: may need a lower dose, set by the doctor
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women: should use this tablet only if the doctor advises it
