How to use Valam tablet 5mg / 80mg?
- Adults: one Valam 5/80 tablet once daily, as prescribed.
- Swallow with water, with or without food, at the same time each day.
- The doctor may change to a higher strength if blood pressure remains high.
- Continue the tablet even when you feel well, unless the doctor stops it.
- Check blood pressure regularly at home.
Drug Interactions
- Potassium supplements and salt substitutes: Together with valsartan they can raise potassium to unsafe levels.
- Potassium sparing diuretics: Spironolactone and similar medicines raise potassium risk.
- NSAIDs: Painkillers such as diclofenac and ibuprofen can weaken the effect and strain the kidneys.
- Other blood pressure medicines: They may lower pressure too much, so doses should be supervised.
- Lithium: Valsartan can raise lithium levels.
- Simvastatin and CYP3A4 inhibitors: Amlodipine can raise simvastatin levels, and some antifungals or antibiotics can raise amlodipine levels.
