Xtin CR Tablet 12.5mg formula
How to use Xtin CR Tablet 12.5mg?
- Swallow the tablet whole with water
- Do not crush, split or chew the tablet
- Can be taken with or without food
- Take at the same time each morning
Contraindications
- Patients with current or recent use of an MAO inhibitor should not take this tablet
- Not suitable for patients taking thioridazine or pimozide
- Known allergy to paroxetine rules out using this tablet
- Avoid in patients who are pregnant or planning pregnancy without medical advice
Drug Interactions
- MAO inhibitors: combined use can cause a dangerous reaction called serotonin syndrome
- Other serotonergic medicines such as triptans or tramadol: raises the risk of serotonin syndrome
- Blood thinners and NSAIDs: combined use may raise bleeding risk
- Tamoxifen: this tablet may reduce tamoxifen's effectiveness
Risks and warnings
- Sudden discontinuation: can cause dizziness, tingling and mood changes, so the dose is tapered off slowly
- Young adults under twenty five: should be monitored for worsening mood or suicidal thoughts
- Alcohol: avoid combining it with this tablet
- Elderly patients: have a higher risk of low sodium levels during treatment
