Zetamax Capsule Uses

How to use Zetamax capsule 250mg?

• Take Zetamax exactly as prescribed, usually once a day.
• Swallow the capsule whole with water, on an empty stomach at least one hour before or two hours after food.
• Complete the whole course even if symptoms improve.
• Allow at least two hours between this capsule and antacids containing aluminum or magnesium.

Drug Interactions

• Aluminum or magnesium antacids: These lower the peak level of azithromycin, so keep them two hours apart.
• Warfarin: The blood thinning effect can increase, so INR needs checking.
• QT prolonging medicines such as amiodarone and some antipsychotics: Combining them raises the risk of heart rhythm problems.
• Digoxin: Its level can rise, so monitoring is advised.

Risks and warnings

• Allergy: Do not use if you are allergic to azithromycin or other macrolides, and stop at once if rash or swelling of the face appears.
• Heart rhythm: It can prolong the QT interval, so tell the doctor about heart disease or low potassium.
• Liver disease: Use with caution and stop if yellow skin or eyes or dark urine occur.
• Severe diarrhea: Contact a doctor, as it may signal an infection of the gut linked to antibiotics.
