Is it Herpes?

Why is skin purple? Is this area painful? Is this present anywhere else in the body? Does your husband have any chronic illness/weakness causing a weak immune system? Has he had chickenpox if childhood?
Shingles/herpes zoster occurs in old age but young people can have it when extremely weak and is usually only on a single “dermatome'/patch. Due to the purple color & lack of history, a diagnosis is difficult to make but we strongly recommend seeing another dermatologist or write back to us asap. Apply betadine ointment three times/day and castor oil to soothe it.
