Swollen Abdomen Area

Asking for my brother who had his appendix removed recently. Now his abdomen area near the appendix is swollen. Is this normal and how long does the swelling remain?

Dear Patient,

How many days has it been since the surgery? Is the area red and painful too? Does he have any fever or fluid coming from this part?
If the swelling is a lot then this is unusual. Apply mycitracin ointment to this twice a day after cleaning the wound with pyodine. It would be good to make sure the site isn't infected and have his surgeon have a look at it.
