Foley catheterization also known as urinary catheterization, is an invasive procedure that involves introducing a plastic or rubber tube called the foley catheter into the urethra, then advancing the tube into the bladder. This procedure is done to drain urine from the body which then drains into a bag that can be emptied once it is full.
