The Rehman Medical Institute is one of the largest hospitals in KPK and was founded in 2002 by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rehman. The institute has 500 beds available for patients and also serves as a teaching center for medical students and nurses, making the hospital a place of learning as well as healing.

Facilities

The institute has a fully equipped sixteen-bed Coronary Care Unit as well as a 35-bed ward for observation They also have specialised equipment for smaller more complicated procedures such as sinus and neck surgery. The hospital employs a very advanced urology department that makes use of high tech machines to deal with issues non-invasively, for example, they have an Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL) machine that allows them to break down kidney stones using harmless shockwaves.

The Rehman Medical Institute is particularly well known for its gastroenterology and cardiology departments, both of which are very well staffed and funded. The gastro department is one of the only ones in KP that offers more intensive testing and procedures such as a fibroscan and has its own 36-bed unit for patients that require observation. The cardiology department, on the other hand, is one of the oldest departments in the hospital and has been steadily improving and adapting since its formation. It is the only hospital in KP that is capable of carrying out extremely complex life-saving procedures such as Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, 24/7.

The pathology department at RMI is very well developed, capable of administering over 300 different kinds of medical tests.
