ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Early symptoms of ALS include difficulty walking, weakness in leg, feet or ankles and hand, slurred speech, trouble swallowing, muscle cramps arms, shoulders and tongue, difficulty keeping good posture.
